As you may know before the school closed we had been doing a lot of work on 'The Gruffalo' by Julia Donaldson. One of our activites was to write a recipe for Gruffalo Crumble. We had to write out the ingredients needed and the utensils we would use. Lastly we had to write clear instructions on how to make it. Once we had our recipes, the real work began.....making our own Gruffalo Crumble Cakes! We had lots of fun making them but perhaps more fun eating them!
Our Jolly Phonics sounds were h, e, m and d. We were busy with our morning boxes and developing our fine motor skills. Every morning we work on forming the letters in our name correctly. The Gruffalo became Scottish!! Doctors role play. Using our imagination. The spoon was a thermometer and the mushroom was the medicine! Some of our puppets had been naughty so were sent to bed!! So many skills being used here. Who knew plastic cups could be so much fun. Using our knowledge about the alphabet to match the sounds and letters. Story time! 10 objects to match the overall. Lots of active Numeracy activities.
Our last topic was all about Scotland. We learned lots about Scotland and answered some questions we had. We got to taste some food from Scotland. Some we loved and some we didn't like so much. We tried porridge; haggis neeps and tatties; oatcakes; shortbread and Irn-Bru.
